Outline | The floods have severely affected approximately 24 million people in South East India since the onset of the monsoon season in late July. More than five million people have reportedly been endangered by the unprecedented flooding which has engulfed 15 districts of West Bengal. In the last week of September, West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh experienced torrential rains, with many of the districts in these states facing floods. |
