The number of people killed by flooding and mudslides triggered by Tropical Storm Alpha in the Caribbean has risen to 26, authorities have said. Haiti has confirmed the deaths of five more people, bringing the total known to have died there to 17. In the Dominican Republic - which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti - nine people were killed.

At 12:00 pm local time on October 24th, the DPC (Direction de la Protection Civil) reported that the official death toll from floods and electrocution has reached 8. 4 people were reported missing, 17 were wounded. 435 families have been affected, 193 houses were destroyed and 211 damaged.
