Outline Floods and landslides killled at least 53 people and left some 20,000 people homeless in Venezuela. The worst hit area is southwestern state of Merida, where 32 people were reportedly killed and around 50 people are still missing.

According to the Ministry of Interior and Justice, some 25,000 people have been affected, 33 people lost their lives and 43 are still missing. The Government has declared a state of emergency in nine states: Aragua, Carabobo, Capital District, Falcon, Miranda, Tachira, Vargas, Yaracuy and Zulia.
