Outline Hurricane Helene crashed ashore in the Big Bend area of Florida, USA on Thursday night of 26 September 2024 as a dangerous Category 4 hurricane. From there, it quickly moved through Georgia, then it soaked the Carolinas and Tennessee with torrential rains, sending creeks and rivers over their banks and straining dams. At least 116 people across multiple states were killed by Helene, a monster storm that caused a path of devastation that stretched over 600 miles.
