As of 4 p.m. 9 August, strong winds and heavy rain had impacted on the lives of 5.14 million people and forced evacuation of more than 1.47 million, and had caused the collapse or damage of a total of 14,300 houses, according to a statement issued by the National Commission for Disaster Reduction.

About 1.35 million people were evacuated as a safety precaution, according to the National Disaster Reduction Committee. As of 4 pm on Monday Beijing time, the storm had toppled more than 600 houses and damaged nearly 5,000 others, causing direct economic losses of over 3 billion yuan.
