2025/07/19 Viet Nam Typhoon Due to the impact of Typhoon WIPHA, heavy rainfall, strong winds, storm surges, and thunderstorms affected north-eastern Viet Nam (in particular the Ha Long Bay area in the Gulf of Tonkin) over the period from 18 to 20 July 2025, causing a severe weather-related incident that has resulted in casualties. Media report, as of 21 July 2025, 38 fatalities, seven still missing persons, and 12 rescued people due to a boat capsize incident that occurred on 19 July in the afternoon (local time) in the area of Ha Long Bay. 2025/07/18 Philippines (the) Typhoon The Philippines has been affected by tropical cyclone activity since 17 July 2025, and the combined effect of Tropical Cyclone CO-MAY (EMONG in the Philippines), WIPHA (CRISING in the Philippines), FRANCISCO (DANTE in the Philippines) and the Southwest Monsoon caused 25 fatalities, 8 missing people, and 8 injured people as of 25 July 2025. 2025/07/16 Korea (the Republic of) Flood Since 16 July 2025, heavy rainfall has been affecting multiple parts of South Korea, including Naju, Gwangju, Seoul, Honseong, and Gyeonggi Province, triggering floods and landslides that caused casualties and damage. According to media reports, nationwide death toll rose to 17 with 11 people missing, forcing more than 13,000 people to evacuate. 2025/07/04 United States of America (the) Flood The flooding occurred after the nearby Guadalupe River broke its banks after torrential rain fell in the central Texas, U.S.A. on Friday, 4 July 2025. The death toll from catastrophic floods in Texas reached more than 110 as of 8 July 2025. 2025/06/27 Kyrgyz Republic Glacial lake outbrust and flooding (GLOF) On 27 June 2025, Takyr-Tor Lake outburst in Issyk-Ata district of Chui region, Kyrgyz Republic. Approximately 180 people, have been relocated from the potential flood zone.

The Thoughts of ADRC

ADRC was founded in 1998 in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture.
The mission is to enhance disaster resilience of its member countries, to create safe communities where people can live with peace of mind, and to create a society that enables sustainable development.
For the purpose, the ADRC is promoting the establishment of multilateral networks through personnel exchanges and a variety of other programs for disaster risk reduction in Asia.
