The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has extended urgent assistance to drought victims in 49 provinces.

The DDPM said since drought was reported in Thailand during October of last year, 41 provinces have been declared drought disaster zones. Northern Thailand continues to be the region most affected by the disaster, with 13 provinces facing critical condition.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has reported that 9 provinces are experiencing droughts. The 9 provinces include: Uttaradit and Sukhothai in the northern region; Buriram, Mahasarakham, Khon Kaen, and Sisaket in the northeastern region; Sing Buri in the central region; and Chachoengsao and Chanthaburi in the eastern region.
