A strong typhoon made landfall Thursday night (16 July) on Shikoku, leaving two people dead and a number of other people injured.

Typhoon Nangka was described as particularly slow-moving, the kind of storm that can wreak most damage. Fears of landslides prompted the government of Kochi Prefecture on Thursday, 16 July 2015 to advise over 4,000 residents to evacuate their homes.
