Authorities say the death toll from flash floods triggered by seasonal monsoon rains in various parts of the country has risen to 118. Meanwhile, floodwater has inundated vast areas, leaving tens of thousands homeless.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said in a statement on Monday that the flooding has affected more than 800,000 people in 2,275 villages. About 2,900 houses have collapsed or are partially damaged.

As of July 31, the death toll from the recent floods has risen to 86 with 60 persons injured. Over 2 200 houses have been damaged, more than 800 villages and more than 800 000 people (according to NDMA & PDMAs calculations) are affected so far, mainly in KP & Punjab provinces where disease outbreaks are also reported.

As Pakistan faces its fourth consecutive year of heavy flooding, relief workers are urging the government to do more to ensure inevitable future inundations do less harm.

Heavy monsoon rains, the rapid melting of snow and outbursts from glacial lakes have led to flash floods and the flooding of the Indus River in various locations across Pakistan. The floods have affected 23 Districts across Pakistan with 55 reported fatalities and 14 people injured. Chitral District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and six Districts of Punjab province have been hit the hardest, with a high risk of floods in Sindh province in coming days
