The town of Kosa in Kumamoto Prefecture recorded rainfall of 150 mm per hour late Monday night and early Tuesday morning, while the city of Unzen, Nagasaki Prefecture, recorded 124.5 mm per hour and the city of Uto, Kumamoto, 122 mm. The Kumamoto Prefectural Government has issued mudslide warnings to 30 municipalities noting that the the series of quakes that began in April have made ground loose in many areas.
