Outline	Severe flooding in Jakarta as well as in West Java and Banten Province has claimed at least nine lives and forced thousands of residents to flee their homes after heavy rains from the evening of 31 December 2019 to the morning of 1 January 2020 inundated both residential and commercial areas across the capital.

Between 24 and 27 February, flooding has been reported in Jakarta, Karawang and Bekasi Regencies of West Java, and South Tangerang Regency of Banten. Nine people were killed and over 222,000 people were directly affected by the floods.
