Outline | On 3 November 2023 at 18:02 UTC a 5.6 M earthquake at a depth of 17.9 km struck Nepal, with epicentre in Jajarkot of Karnali province. Several aftershocks have occurred since. Tremors were felt across North India. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) 140 people have been killed and 140 injured. |

153 (Male: 70, Female: 83) people died and more than 338 (Male: 138, Female: 200) were injured as a result of the earthquake. As per the secondary data sources, 92% of the buildings in the highly impacted municipalities are constructed from stone masonry which has high fragility of damage.

Initial information indicates that some 133 people were killed across Karnali Province, including reportedly 95 people in Jajarkot and 38 people in Western Rukum. Several hundred more people have reportedly been injured. These figures are preliminary, and concerns remain that actual figures may be higher, especially as the earthquake struck at a time when most people were likely to have been at home or otherwise indoors.
