Outline Heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning continued to affect most of Sri Lanka since 10 May 2024, causing several severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage. The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reports, as of 23 May, four fatalities, ten injured people, nearly 1,000 damaged houses and a total of approximately 34,000 affected people.
