Outline | Rivers in northern Myanmar swollen by torrential rain have burst their banks, forcing about 10,000 people to flee, including many displaced by war, according to relief workers from the area. Thousands of residents of Kachin State's capital Myitkyina are trapped in their homes due to severe flooding. Most parts of the town are flooded after the water level of the Irrawaddy River reached more than 1.5 meters above the critical level on 1 July 2024. |
