Outline Due to the impact of Typhoon WIPHA, heavy rainfall, strong winds, storm surges, and thunderstorms affected north-eastern Viet Nam (in particular the Ha Long Bay area in the Gulf of Tonkin) over the period from 18 to 20 July 2025, causing a severe weather-related incident that has resulted in casualties. Media report, as of 21 July 2025, 38 fatalities, seven still missing persons, and 12 rescued people due to a boat capsize incident that occurred on 19 July in the afternoon (local time) in the area of Ha Long Bay.
