The death toll from crushing landslides that smashed into two villages in Indonesia's Aceh province last week has reached 20, with around 250 people injured, a rescue official said on Tuesday.

1. On 18 October, heavy rains caused a flash flood and a number of landslides. Search and rescue teams continue to look for more survivors. Some survivors have been found wounded under the thick mud and debris. The injured are receiving treatment at the nearby hospital and puskesmas (district clinics). SATLAK confirmed that 14 people are dead and 3 people are missing.

The death toll from flash floods in Indonesia's Aceh province has risen to 15.
About 400 homes in five villages have been destroyed in the floodwaters in southeastern Aceh.
Farid Ali, a Red Cross spokesman in the capital Banda Aceh, says another 20 men have been sent to the area to help rescuers search for more survivors trapped under heavy debris and mud.

1. On 18 October, heavy rains caused a flash flood and a number of landslides, inundating an area in two sub-districts, Kecamatan Semadam and Kecamatan Bukit Tusam. Six villages are reported to have been affected. The flood and landslide carrying mud inundated about 400-500 houses, affecting 1,000 internally displaced persons. At least 5 people are reported dead. The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) reported that the disaster seriously injured 68 people and slightly injured another 143.
