7. Cancun’s airport remains closed and it is unclear when it would reopen. The road to the nearest airport in Merida is impassable. It is not clear how many tourists are stranded.
8. On 25 October, the Mexican Red Cross started the distributions of food and water supplies, kitchen kits, hygiene kits, plastic sheeting and mosquito nets to Cancun, Puerto Maderos, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.

3. In Yucatan and Quintana Roo states, more than 71,000 people, many of them foreign tourists, remained in emergency shelters for a third day, unable to leave because of the wide spread floods and damages.
4. Cancun was the area most affected by the storm, with some 300,000 people left homeless and another 700,000 whose dwellings suffered severe damage. The storm destroyed buildings, washed out roads, downed power lines and knocked out telephone service in the state. Access inside of Cancun is at the moment restricted to 60% of the total surface. At least three people died in Cozumel Island, which was battered for two days by the storm. The other four deaths were registered in the Yucatan Peninsula, bringing up the death toll to seven persons.

Although hurricane Wilma has moved away from the Yucatan peninsula, detached clouds will generate momentary rain accompanied by strong gusts mainly in the municipalities east of Yucatan and north of Quintana Roo. In the maritime zone the waves remain high. Intensive rainfall is also expected for the north and east of Campeche, and moderate rain accompanied of electrical thunderstorm for Tabasco and Chiapas.

8. The Yucatan peninsula was pounded by hurricane Wilma during more than 36 hours. It made landfall near Cozumel, as a category IV hurricane, and left the peninsula near Cabo Catoche, somehow weakened, as a category II hurricane.
9. According to official sources, three people died and the number of persons affected could reach 1 million. There are over 100 temporary shelters operating in the states of Quintana Roo and Yucatan, housing some 22,000 persons.

13. The General Coordination of Civil Protection declared state of emergency in 18 municipalities in the state of Yucatan and 5 municipalities in the state of Quintana Roo.

14. A red Alert has been established for Quintana Roo, where some 74,000 tourists are being evacuated out of Cancun, the Mayan Riviera, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel. Fishermen villages of Holbox and others have also been evacuated. In Yucatan a yellow alert was established mainly for municipalities in the eastern region.

1. The National Weather Center in Miami reports that at 1200GMT today, the center of very dangerous category V Hurricane Wilma was located near latitude 17.2 North, longitude 82.8 West or about 340 miles (550 km) south-east of Cozumel, Mexico.
2. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula from Cabo Catoche to Punta Gruesa.
